Registration of Sex Offenders, Procedures.

The below form must be completed by all Convicted Sex Offenders before living in Niobrara County, Wyoming.   Complete and bring the form to the Niobrara County Sheriff's Office to register or update your current, Wyoming Sex Offender Registry information and details.

Any sex offender entering Niobrara County, Wyoming for three or more days must stop by the Sheriff's Office to register.  Any sex offender leaving Niobrara County for three or more days must stop by the Sheriff's Office to deregister and report travel plans outside the county of Niobrara, Wyoming.

This must be done in person and not by phone.  Call 307.334.2240 to make an appointment with our sex offender registry deputy.  If there is any change to your details you have three business days to report the change.  Failure to do so will make the sex offender non-compliant with the sex offender registry and subject the offender to additional felony charges.

The offender shall be photographed, fingerprinted and palm printed if not prior to being registered in Wyoming.   All convicted sex offenders must be registered and keep the registry current by visiting the Sheriff's Office to update their records. 

Details needed to be and remain compliant with the Wyoming Sex Offender Registry Law.

Name, including any aliases ever used;
Address;
The registrant's physical address; and
The registrant's mailing address
Date and place of birth;
Social security number;
Place of employment;
Date and place of conviction;
Crime for which convicted.

You must come to the Sheriff's Office in person when you receive an address verification letter from the State of Wyoming.  Bring current vehicle registration / papers on all vehicles that you drive or have access to use.  

An IPV (In Person Visit) is done at the Sheriff Office.  Offenders must meet with us for these visits as based on the registry classification of your status.   Failure to have an IPV will make the offender non compliant and subject them to additional criminal charges.

The name and location of educational institutions in which the person is employed or attending school;
The license plate number and a description of any vehicle owned or operated by the offender; and
A DNA sample collected. As used in this paragraph, "DNA" means deoxyribonucleic acid located in the cells as defined in W.S. 7-19-401(a)(vi).

Complete the following form, and return to the Niobrara County, Wyoming Sheriff's Office to remain compliant with the Wyoming law.   Offenders must complete the IPV meetings as per classification.

The Niobrara County Sheriff's Office will then report your details to the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation to update the Wyoming Sex Offender Registry.   They will also perform a community notification about your entry into the county, and within 750 feet from your home.   This notification is currently being done by phone using the ECN CodeRED.  Wyoming Sex Offenders cannot live within 1000 feet of any school.  See W.S 6-2-320 Prohibited access to school facilities by adult sex offenders; exceptions; penalties; definitions.

No determination has been made that any individual included in the Wyoming Sex Offender Registry is currently dangerous.  Individuals are included solely by virtue of their sex offender conviction.

The main purpose is to provide data to the public about sex offenders living in the area of Niobrara County, Wyoming.  This information should not be used to threaten, harass or intimidate the registered sex offender.   It is to be used for informational purposes only.

  • Notice to Register for All convicted sex offenders.

    All convicted Sex Offenders must report in person to the Niobrara County Sheriff's Office, Monday through Friday, 9am to 5pm, if you plan on remaining in Niobrara County, Wyoming for more than three days.

    You will need to complete registry paperwork. You may also be required to be processed. This will involve finger/palm prints, mugshot, photos of tattoos, and DNA sample collection. All paperwork must be completed and signed prior to leaving.

    Expect a few hours for processing.

    Bring any paperwork that was provided to you upon DE-registering from the county or state that you last left.

    Bring all vehicle, boat and aircraft registration that you have access to use and operate. Bring official driver licenses, professional certifications and license numbers.

    Sex Offenders who have are already registered in Wyoming still need to report upon entry in to Niobrara County, Wyoming. You can call ahead, 307.334.2240 and request a meeting with the WYSOR deputy. Provide your name and date of birth to the dispatcher. Your current record details will be on hand when you arrive for the meeting. You must also bring current vehicle, boat and aircraft registration that you have access to and operate. A state issued driver license or identification card is also requested.

    Public awareness of Sex Offenders

    Wyoming law requires that the Sheriff Office make public notification of convicted sex offenders living and working in the county. The most current information can be found by visiting the State of Wyoming Sex Offenders Registry website.

    When an offender reports a change and depending on their reporting requirements. The Sheriff's Office will inform the public by CodeRED of the sex offender information. This requirement will go out to all persons living and working within 750 feet from the offenders home and employment. All churches, youth groups and childcare facilities should be notified. Since there are many of these groups in Niobrara County, Wyoming. We ask that you contact us too ensure that you get this information. All citizen should sign-up and enroll for CodeRED alerts.
